Alligator Cupcakes

Hello RTSTH readers! I’m Jillian from Food Folks and Fun and I am so excited to share with you these Alligator Cupcakes I made with my daughter, Mia.

Mia LOVES the book “The Lady with the Alligator Purse”. We read it almost everyday and she knows it by heart. So one day I decided to use the book as inspiration for a little “mommy school” lesson. We started by reading/singing the story  as she pointed out all of the capital “A”s. We then turned our letter A foam letter into an alligator (pictured below), and finally we made these alligator cupcakes.

Mia is thrilled anytime she can help me in the kitchen, and I love the company. Since “The Lady with the Alligator Purse” is one of her favorite books I wanted to come up with a special treat to make to go along with the book. These alligator cupcakes are super easy to make, let me show you how.

Materials Needed for the Alligator Cupcakes:

  1. 10 standard-sized cupcakes, your choice of flavor (cupcake wrappers are optional)
  2. 1  1/2 cups green frosting
  3. 1/4 cup white frosting
  4. 2 Disposable piping bags (Wilton or the like)
  5. Large star tip (I use a Wilton 1M tip)
  6. Small star tip
  7. 4 chocolate chips (I used the larger bittersweet chocolate chips from Ghirardelli
